Components
- 4 NPC 60522 wheelchair motors (24 volts nominal) running at 41.6 volts
- 4 Kubota mower deck wheels (steel walled wheels with 2" wide solid rubber tread)
- 2 pairs of DeWalt 18 volt XR+ batteries (2.4 AH) one pair in series for the front, one for the back.
- 2 Vantec RDFR33 speed controllers, one front, one back.
- Futaba FP-8UAP75 PCM on Channel 87 (75.930 MHz)
We had the following spares with us:
- Second set of 4 DeWalt 18V battery packs (we swapped sets, one charging, one in the bot)
- Three mower deck wheels. We swapped one of these out during the event, due to Kill Saw damage.
Dimensions
- FrostBite's blade is 3/16" steel, 38" wide and 9 1/2" tall.
- The body is a box and lid of 1/8" steel, 30" long, 18" wide and 6" tall.
- The wheels are 9 5/8" in diameter and 2" wide, with a 1 1/16" bore.
- Official weight is 206.0 pounds.

Cost
Here are my estimated costs for building the first version of FrostBite. This table includes two sets of 4 batteries, but not spare wheels. Also, I included the cost of both Vantec speed controllers, because both were used in the robot, even though we could have gotten away with running all 4 motors on one.
